Mangroves

Just across the road from Manasota Beach in yesterdays photo is a tranquil inlet that has a boardwalk around the mangroves. It's a very relaxing and beautiful spot that I feel many people who go to the beach never realize is just a few feet away.

Mannasota Beach

Last night I just felt like going to the beach, nice that they are so close! I actually hadn't been to Mannasota Beach in at least a couple years even though it's just South of Venice. I've tended to stick to the beaches on the Island. However this one is very nice too, as you can tell here, as next to it there is still a simple beach cabin rather than a mansion, condo or hotel building.

Young Love

As I was taking photos of a nearby fountain this lady asked me to take their picture, not with her camera, not to send her, just because she wanted to share their love. I labeled this young love because as a talked to them I felt they had a spirit and zest for live that most people even in their teens and twenties don't have. This couple is very fortunate to share a youth of spirit and love. If we all had what I saw in them that day it would be a very joyful world.

Jazz Festival

Yesterday there was a Jazz Festival downtown in Centennial Park. I'll admit that I'm not a huge Jazz fan but events like this are always good for photos and the music was good too. If you are a Jazz fan the festival continues today so go on downtown to the park and enjoy some good music with some friendly people.

Recycled Plastic Water Bottles

At a craft show in downtown Venice recently I saw these very colorful flowers, turns out they are Recycled Plastic Water Bottles. Now that's a great use for these things, the only problem is I think such bottled water should be banned talk about a total waste of money and of the environment. Drink water in eco-friendly reusable bottles that don't leach toxic chemicals into it!

Not to fear though there would still be far too many plastic bottles around far more than imaginative people like this could use.

Evening Light

Life has kept me distracted from posting much lately, so I am re-starting now. The other afternoon I was down on the Inland Waterway in Nokomis when I got this shot of a restaurant across the way. The early evening light was just about perfect, wonderful ambiance.

As I restart most of my photos will be of the Venice area, but there are a lot more wonderful Florida places within a day of here that I'd like to share as well so they may sneak in some as well. Maybe even a theme park and a big city or two.

Sunset Through Arches

When I was downtown one day I noticed the sun setting between the palm trees and the arches at the Sea Treasures shop. I thought it was rather dramatic and hope you like it too.

Big Waterway

Today is theme day in the City Daily Photo community and the theme for Sept is "BIG" The Inter-coastal Waterway is absolutely the biggest thing in these parts, I mean it's over 3000 miles long! Not our section of course.

The water way was design to provide safe inland water passage along the Eastern Seaboard and Gulf Coast of the United States. Our section was built in the 1960's and turned Venice into an Island. This photo also shows part of the first 10 mile stretch of Venetian Waterway Park this is a trail along both sides of the waterway and another big project for this area.
