Interactive fountains like this one in Venice's Centennial Park are wonderful and fun places to cool off in the heat. While the fountain was not crowded when I took this photo it was jam packed when I drove by yesterday.Seeing news of the heat wave in Oregon really made me think of this with fountains like this in Portland full of people on the national news. Here is a link to a photo of it from Portland (OR) Daily Photos. There people of all ages are cooling of in the fountain. It's really odd to see FL twenty or so degrees cooler then Oregon in the Summer!!!
The city in which I live has several parks featuring water fountains with all kinds of interesting features for the kiddies. People come from all around to play in these fountains and the kids love them. I guess these are taking the place of community pools since there is less liability.
