Even on perfect days Venice has lots of beach space to unwind and relax on. You can find more active beaches near downtown and the beach front condos, or a short drive can take you to a quieter spot where you can chill out.
Yes, Venice is a very nice town. It looks like you are doing something like I am starting to do, tying other sites into your Daily Photo blog. Great idea, and great blog, Selma looks very nice too and I really like the Butterflies.
